Tortugal Reserve is home for a great variety of unusual birds and iguanas, turtles, night animals such as sloth, kinkajou, fishing bats, caves of mojarra.
In order to protect the Reserve; Guest pick up is by water only in either Fonteras or Relleno; a courtesy Tortugal lancha will quickly bring you to the Reserve.
Once at Tortugal, guests can walk to town or to Castillo San Felipe through lagoon and mangle; a covered bridge creek crossing and pathway leads you through a magnificent hardwood forest setting to the main road.
Tortugal provides free kayak use for guests wishing to explore the river to Castillo San Felipe. Free internet, great hotel amenities and pricing.
Enjoy fabulous homemade food and drinks and almost constant cooling breezes while enjoying the panoramic view of Castillo San Felipe to the Bridge.
Visitors love Tortugal's homemade foods, which include from the area fresh caught seafoods, international cuisine, comfort food such as meatloaf. We make our own bread, cinnamon rolls, soups, salads, ice cream, pies.
Tortugal is so amazing it must be experienced to be fully appreciated.
There is a well stocked library, a professional pool table, occasional yoga, salsa, massage, movies every Friday night with pizza served at our outdoor movie theatre with Surround Sound and comfortable seating. To top it off, Tortugal is one of the only places where the water is clean enough to dive into and swim to a floating platform with loungers so you can watch the river traffic going by.
Accomodations:
From the lone backpacker to a large family, the Accommodations are elegantly simple, comfortable, clean and graciously quiet.
Wood and thatch cabins, rock & wood houses and Palapa style dorms are a few of the diferrent accomodations available at the reserve.
All inclusive packages can be tailored to your needs. The amount of the full reservation must be received to hold the space.
Marina:
Tortugal accomodates up to 45 boats, side and piling ties to docks with convenient boarding platforms; easy accessability on and off. Our location is both quiet, isolated, but very conveniently, just a five minutes dinghy ride from town.
